On the face of it, the Russians shooting down the US equivalent of Moby Dick is the icing on the cake. I bet that the Russians would like a US-Russian condominium, if only the Septics could be trusted....

So essentially a longer version of his tweet I posted yesterday ("damp squib" thread) with a little more info on the sources but no evidence at all.

I'm a little intrigued by the allusion to one of the originating sources being an intel agency from a country "better organised than the West thinks they are". Wonder who that's meant to be?

The other "detail" was one of the sources "found this out for themselves" rather than being told by another agency which begs the question, why didn't all the rest find the same thing?

The Larry J stuff about the odd reporting around the attack on Iran was interesting but it doesn't mean the leak is true.

Still no evidence and lots of questions like what happened to the bomb? Where was it shot down? Why has nobody seen any clean up?

Just repeating "my sources insist it is correct" doesn't firm it up at all.

More questions than answers, I agree.

Like Larry, I have this worm of doubt: why would Israel not retaliate against Iran with overwhelming force?

It's like finding/locating a black hole. One can infer it from the surrounding star systems etc.

I found a couple of mentions but both look dodgy as fuck. First one seems more interested in rubbishing Scott Ritter's response:

Another thing he was going on about which means nothing at all was how honest Asians are. First of all, this doesn't apply to intelligence agencies; their business is lying so it's a ridiculous assertion.

Secondly, just for one example, the concept of face doesn't just mean not looking foolish or not "losing face". In a lot of Asian cultures (Thai, Japanese and Korean to varying extents) if they think telling you the truth about something will cause you sadness/emotional pain they will avoid that by telling you a milder version or a white lie.

Not that I'm suggesting Asians are dishonest; quite the opposite but he seems to be trying to use the "logic", This source told me X. The source is Asian. Asian's don't lie. Therefore X is true. Which...yeh.

You would think some hard detail about the location this happened would be fairly easy for a leaking intelligence agency to come up with if they "discovered it on their own" and weren't told it by another agency or are they supposed to have found out about this massive event but just not where it took place?

His tweet last night stating it was the "final update" seems to suggest he's trying to back away from actually following up with any proof and he won't be adding any reporting to this.

To a certain extent, Pepe is unique, and he forms his opinions on the ground, so to speak. This or that intelligence agency is just chaff methinks.

True, to a certain extent. I've dealt with all 3 mentioned. I also had responses that were brutally honest from intellectuals in some of these. Pepe spent 30 odd years dealing with these guys in the East ..
