Lots of good stuff in this episode.

The NYT "lab leak for covid origin" story took me by surprise as I hadn't heard anthing about it. I might have a look to see what other coverage it has had.

If the aim was to make a genetically modified virus, why not start with SARS1 as the backbone? SARS1 is a well-characterized SARS coronavirus with known properties as a baseline, whose growth and purification in the lab are known.

I don’t make this point because I think COVID was not a lab-recombinant virus, I am simply making it because when this point was made to me, I did not have an answer.

I'll be honest I really have a blind spot with all the COVID stuff and for some reason I won't read up too much on it so I'm a bit like Rogan; believing the last thing I heard

So I also do not have an answer to that question.

I actually think Lee made it sound more concrete than it actually was. There definitely seems more tolerance of a lab leak in the mainstream than there was when the pandemic was raging; back then it got the full flak treatment and you were classed as a drooling lunatic for even suggesting it.

Hell of a coincidence mind you.
