Apart from the eternal, insoluble mystery of how that reeking shit Steve Rosenberg manages to live with himself, the only interesting point there is that endlessly repeated trope of 'Russia's full-scale military invasion of Ukraine'. It's now totally compulsory: a wildly false characterisation of the SMO, it's ubiquitous here in precisely the way it isn't when talking about a genuine full-scale invasion of the 'Operation Iraqi Freedom [sic]' type.

So: where did it come from? Who decided that 'Russia's full-scale military invasion of Ukraine' was the thing to say? Who communicated to everyone in the media that this was now the 'proper term', even though it is wrong and misleading?

It's like that thing we saw a little more recently: one particular morning the news was full of references to 'small boats'. Small boats this; small boats that; stop the small boats; etc. Everyone started the same day. Who told them? And why was their being told -- dictated to, in fact -- not a news story? Because by rights it is.

He does his best, bless him, making the best of life in Putin's oppressive totalitarian regime by composing little piano ditties to accompany pretty footage of Moscow (?) in the snow, and then make it all scary and dramatic for when the images of military propaganda intrude.

Poor sensitive soul, however did he cope during the run-up to the Iraq war and every remembrance day for the last 30+ years?

He's no Chopin, but I suppose I should grudgingly admit it's not dreadful. He sees it as part of the propaganda effort, though, which tarnishes it for me:

Doesn't mean he's right about everything, can't be fooled by propaganda and is incapable of dishonesty or occasionally saying something dumb (or deliberately contrary in an effort to sabotage his public persona, as one of the comments under your post explained).

We're all at risk of being 'bent out of shape by society's pliers' to the point where we 'gargle in the rat race choir'. Unfortunately that seemed to happen to Dylan himself, as we've discussed before:

How graceful and in style!

I am still waiting for an apology for being denigrated about touting the use of thorium liquified salt nuke reactors as being an answer to some of our energy problems that will come on line in China in 2025. Not much choice, for lil' I, nevertheless I still wait.

Mind, fast-breeder reactors that Russia is currently using solves the same problem by getting rid of the long term storage of nuclear residuals etc. The fact is, this is somewhat troublesome since this materials *can* be used for the nuke weaponry - is a bit of a downer

.. in other words thorium reactors are nicer. I hate being on the same side with Monbiot but am totally disappointed with 'transition energy' solutions having worked recently in this field. It ain't carbon neutral by any stretch of imagination etc. EROI and all that.
