Ashworth, Streeting, Phillips -- no comments????

I'm mildly surprised there have been no comments on the outcomes for these in the General Election.

Jonathan Ashworth lost his seat to a pro-Gaza independent. His majority of 22,000 was overturned and he lost by 979 votes. Excellent news because he is married to Emilie Oldknow, one of the principal back-stabbers and disgusting betrayers who plotted to bring Corbyn down. So she's got payback through her hubby, who was expecting to be made Minister for Health. Suck it up, Jonathan

Wes Streeting's majority was slashed from over 9,000 to just 528, again by a pro-Gaza candidate.

The oddest result is Jess Phillips. Her majority dropped from 13,141 and she squeaked home by 693 votes.

Now I realise that we've had harsh things to say about Ms Phillips, but what makes this result very strange is that she quit her front bench position in protest against the party's stance on calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. So one would imagine that the Muslim voters in her constituency would have been glad about this and supported her -- which they plainly didn't.

I don't understand this at all. Anyone with a reason this happened?

Anyone spot the NHS privatisation news this morning...?

Turns out that the creepy Alan Milburn -- Blair's health privatiser-in-chief: remember him? -- has apparently been 'advising' Cuprinol Man and Pet Shop Boy in forming Labour's new, corporate-friendly health policy. And now he's officially joined the team.

Be very, very afraid. Labour thinks the NHS is theirs to kill. And every media outlet has now repeated Psycho Wes's declaration that 'the NHS is broken'...

Is there also a convincing explanation for Craig Murray and GG? Probably there is, I am just not up to speed on it.

One thing that haunts me now is that, while people here and elsewhere were talking of hopes for a hung parliament, Starmer absolutely knew, years in advance, that radically reducing the size of the party, and the consequent number of votes, would not compromising him becoming PM. This was a strategic decision made years ago, and yet was effected by a halving of the conservative vote last Thursday: In other words, he knew years in advance that the conservative vote would totally collapse at the next election. Maybe I am missing something, but it seems curious to me.

(1) Starmer was the man, he had complete freedom to convificently eviscerate the party without consequence.

(2) GG earlier this year was a shock result, it could not be allowed to stand beyond some polite congratulations.

(3) The concept of Craig Murray in parliament was anathema to the establishment. He didn’t even split the pro-Gaza vote, he was presumably annihilated enough that the Adnan guy beat the Labor guy.

.. he completely split the labor party of 100 years, knowing he had to, at the same time, generate a massive swing at the next election.

- Is this solely the power of establishment media? (Combined with continuous polling, focus groups and and gaming, US style)? Are these assets alone really so all-powerful in the UK? Is the UK so readily formularized as the US?

Liarbour got about 1.7% more votes than Corbyn

It was the split in the Tory (Officials) vote that did for them. If there was a hidden hand it was in the Reform Partei. From the state's point of view, Liarbour in = Liarbour Tories, ergo no change.

Starmer is UK security services apparatchik: There's no risk involved for them...his job was to get rid of the Labour lefties and in return gets an easy ride in the media...he's funded by the US health privatisers, Israel and the military Industrial complex ( I see his man is already glad-handing in Odessa...the Brit operational war of choice being the Black Sea / Crimea) so he has all the main media risk-issues covered... Farage has neatly reduced the Tory vote and Starmer himself disenfranchised much of the leftist one...so truly deserving media adoration after the win: "Henry V after Agincourt..." according to Polly-filla in the Guardian.

It's all good. The appearance of democracy (FPP style) has been exercised, nothing has changed... geopolitical continuity has been maintained and the Labour party whose proudest boast was to have set up the NHS has been taken over by a clique whose honeymoon job is to now accelerate the hand-over of that milch cow to private interests.

Anyone celebrating this as some kind of victory over something: aside from the investors who are rubbing their hand in glee... will rue the day.

Yes, all true, but as under Keith’s post: Was the great upsurge in Reform predictable at the time Starmer initiated the destruction of Labor?

Or could he just not help himself (due to all the backers you state), and it just worked out nice for him?

He just seemed relaxed and confident all the way through, no doubts or second thoughts.

re: Phillips, I understand she tepidly advocated for a ceasefire but refused to quit Labour Friends of Israel and even denied being a 'member' despite her name being on LFI's list of 'parliamentary supporters' (technically they don't have 'members') which subsequently got removed from their website in the run-up to the election. She also repeated Israel's bullshit 'right to self-defence' argument and supported 'proportionally targeted' attacks on Gaza:

Her cry-bully acceptance speech was quite something to behold, even invoking the murdered Jo Cox to denounce her opposition as 'aggressive' and 'violent':
