BBC...Talk show host Phil Donahue dies aged 88

The BBC on Phil Donahue...they manage to get through the whole article without a single mention of his anti Iraq war stance of his sacking for it.

In July 2002, Donahue returned to television after seven years of retirement to host a show called Donahue on MSNBC.[21] On February 25, 2003, MSNBC canceled the show.[22][23] Soon after the show's cancellation, an internal MSNBC memo was leaked to the press stating that Donahue should be fired because he opposed the imminent U.S. invasion of Iraq and that he would be a "difficult public face for NBC in a time of war"[24] and that his program could be "a home for the liberal anti-war agenda".[25] Donahue commented in 2007 that the management of MSNBC, owned at the time by General Electric, a major defense contractor, required that "we have two conservative (guests) for every liberal. I was counted as two liberals."[26]

Donahue was massive back in the day although he was a bit of yesterday's man when he spoke truth to power on Iraq. But he was a HUGE name in the US msm before that so his firing because he opposed the Iraq war crime was pretty massive, although the msm did their usual play down, omit and memory hole thing to make sure it wasn't treated as such.

I'm reading "The Achilles Trap" by Steve Coll at the moment which is a history of the US and Iraq in the modern era (basically from the late 70s to now) and it's very good...so far.

Nice. He takes no prisoners and rips that NYT garbage apart. I think this line would be useful in so many situations:

"Get the fuck out of here with the “he said” bullshit."

especially if you change "he said" to "Israel said"!

It is actually a very common msm trick though; to attribute a verified factual statement to a third-person opinion by prefacing it with "he said.."; immediately the semi-quote format, as opposed to simple declarative, renders the information subjective rather than factual in the reader's mind.

Misread this as "BBC Talk Show host" -- NBC obviously
