Its quite clear that if anyone opposes the Ruling Elite and its agenda you are either Far Right or Far Left, both accusations being meaningless in reality given most making the allegation are more or less fascist as the US/European Elite abandon notions of democracy, free speech and freedom of assembly in favour of authoritarianism and forever war.

One's own silence of late has been caused by trying to accomodate the recent UK elections, which have produced a genuine spectre of fascism hailing from Keith Starmer's Nu, Nu Labour Party, i.e., its now a vile copy of the worst aspects of the Conservative Party and very much anti-working class.

So, lets stop with the hysteria and more or less mirroring talking points of the Ruling Elite and begin serious analysis again rather than knee jerk reactions to events that have been fermenting since the late 70's in the West - see a few monologues by Alex Macay who discusses issues from a pure Marxist-Leninist perspective, that is the genuine Left of the political spectrum, not faux left: https://www.youtube.com/@Marxengelsleninstalinmao/streams

Some interesting analysis and I don't think anyone disagrees with most of his reasons for this happening and his takes on the ruling class, etc.

In future, let's use his terminology. "Straight-forwardly fascist" instead of far-right. We could also use "right-wing" as he uses several times himself.

He skates over the AfD's connections to the JA and NPD and other "straight-forwardly fascist" /white-supremacist groups who prefer violence to discussions. He also gets bogged down in what nonsense they come out with (I agree with his takes on all of that) but ignores the effect of people actually believing in that and what it can stir up. His main complaint is that the AfD are "just an extension of mainstream politics" and their policies of racial hatred are "not that different" and "not that much more racist". I think this misses the point and ignores the danger that comes when these people begin to gain traction and where it can lead. In Germany of all countries this shouldn't need stressing.

Running terminology into the ground until it becomes meaningless also applies to "bourgeoise" which appears to be everything and everyone that he doesn't agree with. While I agree with his analysis of the power relations, the role of the US, etc., he basically dismisses the rise of the more "Straight-forwardly fascist" parties as just an extention of the mainstream parties and it's all bourgeoise and imperialist (again, true enough) but, again, ignoring the dangers completely.

Also, welcoming Paul Mason with open arms going in to the Q&A segment is a bit suspect no? Talking about tools of the bourgeoise ruling class and then welcoming an MI5 turncoat whore into the stream is classic given his brief (and again, correct) tirade against con-men and his lack of interest in having discussions with them but Paul Mason? "I'd be interested in hearing about your new book, Paul". Seriously?

It was interesting seeing the comments slagging off The Duran and how "their two hosts love the AfD" and his agreeing with it. I have to say that's the impression I always got from them.

I can imagine the AfD being a proxy or a stalking horse for the respectable fascists of the governing coalition, its lack of respectability being its most valuable characteristic for them, like Le Pneu's partei in France. Notice how liberals like to do deals with fascist groups rather than lefty ones? It's reminiscent of the dilemma of the respectables, once they had kicked the SPD out of government in 1930, the real end of the Weimar republic.

I take it the Paul Mason' who sometimes participates in the 'Live Chat' is no relation to the fraud that is Paul Mason, thus, the person gets ridiculed continually. As for any other complaint's, well Mr Macay can be too 'serious' for his own good, i.e., when discussing the UK riots, totally overblown by the elite, I commented that some of the behaviour was little different to what I experienced as a teenager in Newport on a Friday and Saturday night, i.e., booze fuelled high jinks and letting hair down by the working class. Actually, and what was not focused on is the fact, unlike France, we've had no actual widespread riots caused by hundreds of thousands, rather than a few thousand. That said, i with Keith Starmer pushing the UK further towards fascism and making life worse yet again for millions, I do expect large scale riots, on par with those of the early 80s, and these may included those with useless higher education qualifications who's incurred debt they are unable to pay off - already a huge problem and growing by the day.

I should add I agree with your initial post especially on the (not so creeping more galloping) authoritarianism of Starmer and the wider ruling class.

I also, sadly, agree that there are going to be much larger outbreaks of social unrest coming up. I'm sure "they" know that too hence all the new laws they've shovelled in to give them massively expanded powers to stop protest, and really to stop dissent itself.

One of the dangers of the rise of the "Straight-forwardly fascist" populists is exactly that they can stir up the knuckle draggers who just see "oh yeh they hate the blacks, I'm in" and then you get real race riots.

His (AM's) analysis of everything around the outside was interesting but he always seems to end in the same place "They are imperialist/bourgeoise" and that's the end of that. It always seems there's a danger when everything is "theory"; I'm sure some Somali in Leipzig getting his head kicked in by a bunch of JA headcases emboldened by the rise of the Afd will take comfort in the fact that their assailaints don't even recognise the imperial nature of the German state.

On the Paul Mason thing I wondered if it was a joke I missed; thankfully it was. I've bookmarked his channel as it seems interesting although he doesn't seem to put out much content. Any idea what he does the rest of the time?

Plenty of Marxist YT Channels

It may be best to visit Joti Brar or CPGB-ML first, together with the numerous other Marxist YT channels that have popped up, i.e., Midwesterner Marxist or plethora of African-American Marxist channels available. Paul macay's issue is that he got caught up with Trotsky fringe outfits whilst at university - had he had a few more years on him, i.e., born in the late 60's or 70s I think his outlook would be somewhat different, i.e., I'm happy at being an old school Marxist with genuine experience of being part of the proletariat - had I been born in 1980 this would not be the case as Thatcher destroyed some 15-20% of the UK's manufacturing sector in a 3 year reign of terror (1980-1982) and its been downhill since for the UK.

Couldn't the rise of the AfD be at least partly explained by the fact they oppose the Ukraine war, whereas (afaik) no other mainstream German party does? There must be a wide recognition among ordinary people that siding with the US and fighting a proxy war against Russia has been disastrous for the economy, and if the situation gets desperate enough people might be willing to overlook the 'straightforwardly-fascist' tendencies of the AfD because that's their only democratic option for slowing down or halting the collapse in their standard of living. If I recall AfD were the only ones to oppose the German govt's draconian covid policies too.

I agree with the general point about dropping the far right/fascist label in the indiscriminate way it is generally applied today, while reserving it for cases where it's actually appropriate. When employed as a smear it basically guarantees that people will join the ranks of the actual far right, especially if those are the only ones who appear to be fighting on their behalf on a number of issues perceived to be the most important.

Alex Macay's omission

In general, his M-L analysis is fine as it goes. However, for some reason he doesn't mention blowing up of the NorthStream pipeline which has caused huge economic pain to German (and generally European) population. It obviously also affects industrialists and thus German elite/ruling class. The only interesting part is the tension this has caused between the two (industrialists and the elite). Around 26:30 or so, until 56:30 etc. *This* is the cause of the current crisis and needs some serious analysis since it involves impoverishment of the working class. I suppose in M-L analysis it could be simply be explained as subordination of German imperialism to US imperialism, which is somewhat bland and something we all know about.

You've overblown NordStream

I think you have over-egged the pudding as far as NordStream is concerned based on the fact that a German-led European Commission has imposed around 13 rounds of sanctions on Russia beginning with fossil fuels, the sabotage of NordStream just cemented said sanctions into place, i.e., the European Elite, inline with their US handlers, desired to cut Russian exports of fossil fuels and other mined minerals to EU nations. And, who was head of the Commission but a failed female German politician!
Macay does have a Chat feature for his M-L inspired analysis, which I've only managed to participate in a few times - his anaysis of the recent English/Northern Ireland riots was quite good, although, as stated by me, he seems to miss highlighting why the UK has not had loads of riots, rather than a handful in the Summer months. Indeed, unless UK citizens not only take to the streets, but cause economic mayhem I see no chance of change as Keith Starmer fulfils the radical Tories desire of turning the UK into a fascist state, of which we are almost there I'm afraid to say.

Thanks Chris. Let me rephrase it, if you like. Blowing up NorthStream was the culmination of the whole caboodle of diverting energy resources away from Russia by septics. As a result, Europe, incl. the UK and especially Germany suffers serious energy poverty. Personally, it *really* does affect me here in the UK, the energy bills are mouth-wateringly expensive. It may not affect you (since you live in HK) or perhaps Macay who obviously hasn't noticed, but people on the poverty line are suffering. One would have thought that event/s like these are worth mentioning in an M-L analysis on what is important to us plebs. Just saying
