Cheap to focus on the latter particularly when there's so much to criticise in the former. Sorry for the posh phrase. I actually used "beastly" in the thread on Kamala and her word salads the other day; sarcastically but perhaps it's catching

It's a word I would only ever use when affecting that public school/upper-class Jeeves and Wooster kind of tone.

I think I first encountered the word "beastly" as a very young kid, having "The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe" read to me by my dad.
The word never really stuck with me though and it certainly wasn't in vogue in any of the schools I ever attended, where the language was, let's say, a little more colourful.
Love the book very much to this day, though,

However, at some point these politicians in fact give up, stop caring about their appearance and just live on their laurels (eyes roll). They have nothing new to say and just repeat their line from decades ago. From my worm's eye view .. just stop eating so much, you maggots.
