... This being that wealth must always get a seat at the table, while expertise needs to be held at arm's length in debate as it will just muddy the water. The wealthy, you see, have lots to lose, and also the ability to hit back, so a seat is permanently reserved for them.

Beneath this lies a further assumption: that acquired wealth proves that someone has a grasp of the world's operation so profound that we all need to sit at their knee. In our sick society, having grabbed billions from the chaotic, inhuman whirl that creates mega-enriched psychopaths by the literal thousand is to have acquired the highest kind of authority. Maybe this is a primate thing in a context where primate things don't belong.
