I shall have to disagree. the smirking bellicosity of Morandi is very unpleasant, not that different from Netanyanhu's belligerency .

Thousands more people are going to die, it's absolutely nothing to smirk about. And if it's wrong to Netanyahu to sabre rattle, it's equally wrong for Morandi to do so. Although I agree the Sky News commentator was spouting propagandistic rubbish I thought he did well not to rise to the bait of Morandi's unpleasant rhetoric.

The man belongs to a country originally shattered by an Anglo British coup, that went through a massively destructive war against an Iraq supported by the US (in which Marandi himself fought and survived two chemical weapons attacks: the chemicals btw supplied by the west), that has been suffering grievously from economic sanctions for years and has been the focus of all kinds of mad accusations and subject to endless threats ( see Trumps latest lunatic outburst for example) not least from Israel which has been trying for many years likewise to pull the US into a full scale war against it and which has also seen numerous arbritary terrorist assassinations of it's top military and political figures by both Israel and the US.

And here he is...an educated professor (UK educated: Birmingham Uni. btw) who knows his geopolitics (he ran the North American Studies program at the University of Tehran) having to listen and to take seriously this quite bizarrely propagandised summary of events by a western " journalist" which in fact attempts to depict the exact opposite of what we can see in the actual footage with our own eyes. He's an educated & very well informed individual being treated with contempt: why would he take this childish nonsense seriously without grinning?

I don't know what gets into some of you. He was talking war, whatever his academic or political background - , bellicosity, reaction, revenge, martial murderous tit for tat - He was no better than any of the others who shout war. They've all got God and righteousness on their side. I wish everyone here would stop taking sides. Does Iran have genuine grievances, of course, but Iran is also a highly corrupt state whose own people, especially women, have had to suffer religious intolerance and violence for a very long time. It was the same when Russia started its SMO, many (not all) comments here were dire in their callowness and callousness, cheerleading for Russia. .

What an unfortunate choice of words Professor Seyyed ( an Iranian title) Muhammad Marandi was during the Iran Iraq war ( fomented by the US and collective west) subjected to 2 or 3 chemical attacks with chemicals supplied by the US and Germany and targeting data supplied by the US to Iraq, he still has lung issues as a result, the 3rd attack occurred when he was stationed near his home, he went to spend the evening with his family and upon his return discovered his whole unit dead from a chemical attack.

Point taken and I was aware of his history. My meaning was that in this interview, in a large contrast to his normal style, he was actually making some claims about the Iranian military which I think were slightly inflated and he was also, again in direct contrast to his usual style, a little jingoisitic, hence the use of the nickname.

He was celebrating an attack which even the BBC admit has only one (? indirect) civilian casualty despite involving 200 missiles. It was so because Iran targeted only military facilities and the Israeli ability to wage war. From that perspective it was a triumph.

This is in direct contrast to the attacks celebrated by the Israelis where civilians: women children & babies are directly targeted in homes, hospitals and schools and murdered because they were all apparently, according to the Israelis, "Hamas".

There is a quantive difference you are failing to recognise. "They are all bad & all the same...a curse on both their houses" cuts no mustard as any kind of argument because of its failure to consider the geopolitical realities.
In our world presently by far the biggest instigator of wars worldwide- and it has been so since WW2 is the US often using its proxies such as Israel.
