Whether this is accurate is yet to be seen, but if there was no damage there would be no need to hide it, in fact the opposite would be true.

...no amount of cajolery, and no attempts at ethical or social seduction, can eradicate from my heart a deep burning hatred for the Tory Party...So far as I am concerned they are lower than vermin.

however, the need to censor any reporting on the damage or lack of it definitely speaks to there being some and it being embarrasing.
