I came across this tweet by an Israeli woman, Yael Bar Tur, on Israel's attack on Iran which nutshells EVERYTHING that has gone wrong with modern feminism.

"Last night a regime that jails and kills women for walking around with their hair uncovered was attacked by an Air Force that includes elite female combat pilots. It’s not hard to pick a side here."

Ms Bar Tur work for the NYPD in social media and digital services.

Well, no, feminism was never meant to be a brand label stuck on any and all behaviours, no matter how immoral, as long as they're carried out by a woman. Same story with gay liberation. That started as the perfectly sensible view that the State should not police or involve itself in intimate relationships between consenting adults. Somehow it's become "hey, Tel Aviv has Pride marches so, you know, anything Israel does anywhere in the world is just peachy by us."

Amazing really how movements are subverted.

Here's an idea; let's pick the side that isn't bombing civilians and engaged in genocide, regardless of their gender. And of course, if she had voiced the opposite view ("One side has been bombing women and children for a year and has killed at least 50,000 civilians, support Palestine" for example) the NYPD would have fired her before she managed to look at her tweet.

She seems to be the walking, breathing version of the "democrat bombs come with rainbow flags" internet meme:

Thanks Rask. These couple of paragraphs caught my eye:

Parenti published through campist Grayzone because he too is a tankie. In his 2012 article “But Did The Lights Stay On?” [7] he outlines, in measured academic language, the ways in which the Soviet Union hesitatingly intervened in Afghanistan. While he admits there were some national security concerns, he paints a picture of the Soviet presence promoting human rights, women’s liberation from rural patriarchal oppression, and modernization in the face of feudalism. His tone reads a lot like a US State Department overview of any conflict that needs justification, but for the Soviet side. You have to read the whole article to be sure Parenti comes down on the side of the Soviet invasion as a well intentioned but doomed attempt at liberating, democratizing, and modernizing Afghanistan only to see it fall into barbarism. In the end Parenti subscribes to a “Tankieism or Barbarism” state socialist view.

Those paragraphs are not good (although I do have creeping concerns about GZ; Max in particular). I am still hacking my way through the article but that excerpt makes me wonder if it's worth it.

Never heard of the site before and scanning their content it's hard to pin them down.

From that media bias check it seems logical that libcom ideology trumps all and ignores geopolitics in toto, as in:

I posit that’s what the poll actually measures.

You could argue its a measure of extreme bias in education, but its a tired old excuse made by people many professors would probably swap jobs with at the drop of a hat. The converse may not be quite so true.

In fact many on the other side most indupitably think professors’ salaries are already too high for the privilege of merely educating their over-privileged children - especially if not in the manner they should be educated (according to dictat).

So yeah, the old plutocracy can’t just quite manage to keep its greedy mouth fully shut.

But yeah, self-selection operates for sure. As everywhere else. Dispiriting.
