European Georgia...

A whole and entire foreign-funded NGO for every 150 Georgians handing out improbable shit about Georgia being in the EU one day alongside the EU flags is the cause of Georgia's own delusions.

But... apparently ecouraged by the EU flag-flying in Georgia, I've noticed that some people appear to think Georgia is in Europe...vaguely in East Europe somewhere...& of course cruelly being denied its natural European heritage by big bad Ivan...

I've found this to be a handy stomper for the deluded:

Tbilisi to Berlin: circa 2000 miles.

Tbilisi to Bhagdad: circa 600.

-It's amazing how many people just don't believe it.

Well Ken, geographically Georgia is in Europe although on the cusp of Asia Minor to the south and Asia to the east somewhere by the Urals. To me that means Georgia is in eastern Europe. What I cannot get my head around is why Georgians would want to join the EU. Clearly by the latest vote they do not want to join.

I'm sure it can be "made" to be so...but then so is Turkey by that reach...oh and Israel can be in the Eurovision Song Contest too...but the point was that it's less than 600 miles from Baghdad and more than 2000 from Berlin.

- I think this map follows the modern definition with the line on the Great Caucasus watershed which leaves nearly all Georgia in Asia.

Thanks Ken. That map looks about right. Just because Georgia or Turkey is on the Black Sea or Israhell is in the Med is meaningless.

Haha. If wishes were fishes for the geographically challenged ..

The only reason Borell/Barroso were visiting Kazakhstan at that time is because of their interest in Kazakh oil and gas deposits which are currently being exploited in the Caspian Sea by (mainly) European oil and gas companies. I assume they were also carrying water for the US interests there (large btw and mainly based in Tengiz area i.e. inshore). Judging by the date of their visits .. during RF SMO etc. Just looking after their shop .. hehe
