-Anyone got a decent human contact running a commentary on what the Deutschers think of their present government: the whole Ukraine fiasco, Nordstream, the anti-Russian virus, the entirely needless economic collapse...and the utter lunacy that brought them to this impasse etc?

I thought that Mercouris has a good handle on Germany (being married to a German etc.). From memory, most Germans are brain-washed and few that are not are in the region of 30% of being against the current policies. No doubt this will change as Germany's economic situation takes another dive into abyss. We wait.
