Israel says it does not intervene in events in Syria

Israel’s military has issued a statement saying that it does not intervene in events taking place in Syria, Reuters reports.

However, the country’s military did say that it had deployed forces in a buffer zone monitored by the United Nations and at a number of points necessary for defence in light of the events in the Arab nation.

Clearly, incessant bombardments and missile attacks don't count as "intervening" never mind funding, training and providing medical aid to the terrorists. Not a dissenting word from the fraudian of course.

So will Syria go the way of Libya? Will the Christians who live in peace under Assad be victimised and forced in refugee status, the same perhaps for those Moslems who don't fit these extremists ideals of Moslem brotherhood? How many people will violently lose their lives, their children's lives as chaos begins to reign and the various armed factions fall out?

All I can say is I despair for the people of Syria, what did 99% of them do to deserve this turmoil. Yet there'll be those in the UK including all our MPs bar a few who will be rejoicing at the fall of Assad who don't give a flying fck for the people of Syria, though they might when they come knocking at the door asking for a home.

I love my old country but for the moment I'd wish the horsemen of the Apocalypse to come riding through the corridors of Westminster and striking the inhabitants down, for Iraq, for Syria, for Lybia, for Afghanistan, for Gaza, for Lebanon, for Ukraine, and they could send posses out to do the same in Washington, Jerusalem and by the .look of it, in Ankara too.

Sometime before too long, if there were justice in the world, the UK will start suffering the same destructive powers as these abject nations and our quaint green and pleasant land turn into something blacker and bloodier. Not something I want to see, shouldn't have to say that, but ultimately there's always a comeuppance.

In the imperial chess game, with Trump saying Ukraine is ready to make a deal, it seems likely Russia's desire to maintain a sea port in Syria will impact on any deal. Maybe it did already and hands were shaken already to sllow the regime change.

If that turns out to be true, it's fishy as hell and it would look like someone set him up. It wouldn't be some random anti-air battery seeing a plane and going, "Yeh, best shoot that down, Assad might be on it". Someone would have arranged the flight and then sent the flight plan, times, etc. to the shooter.

If it's true, that is. I guess we'll find out in a little while. It's notable that there is no commentary about where Assad has gone, just "Assad fled" type comments in the reporting.

Yes. I would have thought something would have come out by now if he had been killed. The recent statements from the Russian Foreign Ministry suggests he may be in a Dacha on the Black Sea or somewhere in Moscow.

...after he downplayed the fall of Allepo and said it's only a matter of time before the tide will turn.
This puts not only Palestine, Lebanon and Syrian minorities in existential danger but also puts Russia and Iran seriously on the back foot. Even China should be worried. That they took the eye off the ball and allowed this to happen can't be sheer incompetence...something else is going on here.

I like (and post) quite a lot of the analysts but they've all been badly shown up in this case.

On the face of it, it's a severe blow to so-called axis of resistance that Ritter has been bigging up as a likely instrument for the demise of Israel.

When they've recovered from the shock, it will be interesting to see the responses of Ritter, Johnson, McGovern et al. And Crooke.

Will Iran and Russia respond and how? Or, will they stand back?
