Not a new one, but something still worth reading. Try and imagine someone who "has been published in Time, The Nation, Foreign Affairs among others" writing in such terms about the wife of *any* western leader, however bent, murderous or despised: it would be considered *career-endingly outrageous*...

...rumour has it Asma was one of the driving forces behind making privileged (i.e. corrupt?) Alawite multi-millionaires pay their share of taxes...thus according to the journalist this made her the evil instigator of "...the regime's darkest crackdown"??
It's really convinced me of two things: that this "journalist" is an idiot whilst the subject she is feebly attempting to demonise: Asma by contrast appears to be a decent human being.
