Two important issues revealed by that pile of verbal fluff are (i) nothing gets a young nobody a terrific BBC gig quite like having parents who are hugely influential culture-world insiders; (ii) the BBC is vastly more interested in problematising classical music than in communicating it.

thanks for the voice of sanity: Strauss (1/1 concert from Vienna Phil.) was playing on Japanese TV all afternoon and why they didn’t choose Tchaikovsky, it turned out, was not the appropriate question du jour.

I know about this also, and its interesting to see the cracks appearing in European unity from the nationalist leaders. The anti-imperial left (apart from Clare and Mick!) should be front and center.

Me too hehe. I don't normally get swayed by Krainer but in this case he had some merit. Otherwise I file him under 'unproven' for lots of his output. Just me.

The cracks in the European unity are becoming chasms. It's the nihilism ... and I am not mincing my words in this instance : /

Ritter for military / arms control,

Krainer for economic trends and political trends

Crooke for diplomatic matters.

Tomski for engineering

Etc.

For the rest, they each have interesting and instructive (even fascinating) personal experiences BUT beyond the above I think they are largely quoting / influencing each other, so pick and choose what are, largely, opinions, based on your own experiences and personal knowledgge

Since the board is moving slowly, it seems it is possible to make a comment which just may be viewed. You say:

Krainer for economic trends and political trends

I still consider Hudson more credible due to his extensive experience on the Wall St. Wolff is not that far behind with his Marxist views in the academia. Krainer is perhaps an upgrade to Hudson but doesn't have as much experience, and tends to speculate without adequate evidence, although he does have some insightful concepts which are intriguing.

Can comment on others but time is short.
