Gaza vs Palisade

Both ultimately man made, one accidentally on purpose (global warming and probably insoluble), and one just deliberately on purpose (which a single telephone call would have solved). .

Both leave an appalling message which humanity remains deaf to.

I know it has been said before but the world really would be a better place without humans...well, at least some humans.
Was watching the Katie Halper show earlier, about the wildfires...worth a look.

Fwiw, I recall my college discussion of 'Greening America' book, being one of the topics. Just before 'China Town' got released in 1974, laying out the ecological 'scam'.

Faye Dunaway was a notable actress .. agree, Colombo or not : ).

So he (the Halper show guest) actually got it precisely correct..

Its people building in/too close to semi-arid forested areas that should not be built in, combined with people willing and stupid enough to buy a property that is directly opposite a blowtorch that was not lit at the time the purchase was made. I guess they are all infatuated with the beauty of it all, and want to therefore impose their egos on it, I dunno.

I have no feelings about it. Neither feel sorry for them, nor feel schadenfraude. Its just what it is.

Stephen Colbert shilling for the apartheid Pistachio king and queen! I knew he'd fallen a long way but fuck me, that was disgusting.

Also, Karen Bass's refusal to answer any all of those questions at the airport was a bad look.

A very informative, and disgusting, episode all in all.

With common sense and goodwill - and absent US neocon unipolar insanity - Israel-Palestine and Ukraine-Russia could have been resolved satisfactorily. One state solution where Israelis and Palestinians have equal rights. Neutral Ukraine and autonomy in the Donbas. But, no, the 'empire of chaos' would rather promote atavistic ethno-nationalism to achieve its aims.

If we can't resolve what should be relatively simple issues like these, what chance have we of coming together to tackle the more intractable problem of climate change (itself just the most egregious of insults to nature)?

Through reduction in consumption overall and massive redistribution of resources - both anathema to corporate capitalism.

They're the privileged (upper) middle class.."The aspirationals" (great movie about making a movie about a movie), not really the 1% though..in many ways they're high status servants...the place that the consumerist mind goes when it envisions "success", should breed circumspection... "it's gorn"
