Israel approved plans to withdraw troops from the Gaza Strip, after advancements in prisoner exchange negotiations with Hamas, media reports said Saturday.
The Haaretz newspaper said the military authorized several plans for the swift withdrawal of soldiers from Gaza in response to progress in the talks.
It examined options, including withdrawing troops through the Netzarim Corridor, which divides Gaza into two.
Despite having established extensive infrastructure and positions in the region, the military said it could "evacuate" forces, emphasizing its readiness to implement any agreement reached by the government and the Palestinian resistance group, including a rapid troop pullback from Gaza.
The Israeli Prime Minister's Office revealed earlier that a delegation, led by Mossad chief David Barnea and Ronen Bar, chief of the Shin Bet internal security service, will travel to Qatar to continue negotiations.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met before the announcement with Steve Witkoff -- US President-elect Donald Trump’s special envoy for the Middle East.
Yedioth Ahronoth also reported, that 90% of the details of a prisoner exchange agreement between Israel and Hamas have been finalized, citing political sources.
Re: Israel approves plan to withdraw troops from Gaza: Report
Wouldn't trust anything Israel says. Whenever have they negotiated or done anything in good faith? Netanyahu would say anything to get hostages released, take the credit and then start bombing the carp out of tent cities again claiming Hamas have broke the agreement and are again using babies and women as human shields. I think we all know that for these fanatic zionazis, the release of hostages isn't a priority unless it furthers their diabolical agenda i.e. keeping them at the heart of power and pursuing more attacks and wars on their neighbours and of course, Iran.
Re: Israel approves plan to withdraw troops from Gaza: Report
6 mins ago. Report: Three hostages will be released on cease-fire deal's first day, four more a week later Hamas would release three hostages on the first day of the cease-fire agreement, after which Israel would begin pulling back its forces from populated areas in the Gaza Strip, a Palestinian official familiar with the negotiations told the BBC.
According to the official, Hamas would release four additional hostages a week later and Israel would allow displaced Palestinians to return on foot to the northern Strip. X-ray machines operated by a Qatari-Egyptian technical security team will be deployed.
The official added that Israeli forces will remain in the Philadelphi corridor and maintain an 800-meter buffer zone along the eastern and northern borders during the deal's first phase, which will last 42 days. 1,000 Palestinian prisoners are expected to be released from Israeli prisons during that stage, and Hamas will release 34 hostages.
Re: Yep. Looks like it might be happening. Haaretz report.
Just to be clear, I didn't say I thought the hostage exchange/ceasefire wasn't happening, just that I reckon it won't be long before Israel finds an excuse to break the ceasefire part and start bombing the Palestinians again. They never act in good faith in these things, they never have.
