OK. Keep posting this celebrity nonsense. The Daily Mail video was from THREE YEARS AGO about a court case that has moved on considerably. It's celeb- news tat that really doesn't have any place here.

I saw his comments on the Gaza genocide but even then it's not that "board worthy". I find it hard to understand what you don't get about this.

If I had posted only Baldwin's rant against his daughter, yes, that would qualify as "celebrity nonsense." But I made sure to place that clip, as well as his roadside interview about his firearms incident, with his more recent provocation at that New York demonstration.

I've only just watched this. I thought the point of the original post was the spat with his wife, as your heading indicates.

But the New York thing is more confusing than clarifying. I couldn't hear what the man in the crowd was shouting at him, or the woman. I wouldn't have known it was an anti-genocide protest if you hadn't said so. All I distinctly heard was Baldwin saying "I want peace for Gaza".

If you didn't know any better, you'd think that Baldwin's words were innocuous. I think you do know better than that.

Surely it's not necessary to post up evidence of Baldwin's bloodthirsty past statements about Israel. Surely, if we are talking about someone or something that we are all familiar with, we don't need to provide helpful little backgrounders before we say something. I assume that readers on this unusually literate and intelligent forum would be able to appreciate the brutal hypocrisy of his words, already knowing something of the nature of the man.

I'm very sorry, M, but I don't know any better. The totality of my knowledge about Baldwin is that he shot and killed someone on a film set by firing a live round instead of a dummy. I don't have a clue about his views on Israel, Gaza, genocide or anything else. I don't read celebrity stuff at all so I'm ignorant about the views of such people.

As to the New York demo, I didn't endorse or take "seriously" Baldwin's comment -- it was the only thing I could actually hear! Which is why I quoted it. The rest of the soundtrack was just an incoherent babble. The crowd might have been pro-Israel and anti-Gaza, I couldn't tell what the protest was about.

And my original response -- "Why is this here?" was genuine bafflement about Baldwin snapping at his wife as worthy of being posted. I didn't see the link at the bottom till later. Not knowing anything about what Baldwin had said in the past meant I had no context for the post. Didn't mean to offend or upset anyone.

What I said was: the original post was three video clips, two of which were (three-year old and NINETEEN-YEAR OLD respectively) celebrity tat which are of no interest to anyone on this board and just serve as clutter, as evidenced by almost everyone else's comments. The third video was barely related to Gaza.

If you can't see that or are incapable of admitting you might have made a misjudgement, that's on you, but stop misrepresenting what I said and why I criticsed the post.

I still think Baldwin's meltdown at his daughter is a classic, even though it happened a generation ago.

Since then, he's carved out a little niche for himself as the (desperately unfunny) resident Trump impressionist on SNL.

His irritating political views fist came to my notice when he appeared on David Letterman's show shortly after the 2000 presidential election. He spent most of his interview in a barely controlled rage, blaming Ralph Nader for the result.

Ish .. I reckon. My worry is the Daily Heil type of insinuations are proliferated. I don't personally care about this sh!t bags' opinion. ..but i do find it goes well with a coffee on Sunday afternoon.

I would rather people post stuff i'm not interested in than hestitate to do so because they anticipate being accused of creating weak posts.

There is virtually no post which couldnt be accused of being a waste of time from some perspective.

For example you could accuse a post highlighting the latest israeli atrocity in gaza as being a waste of time on a board where everyone is already aware of the nature of the zionist state in that such a post doesn't contribute anything in terms of analysis.

I think that suggesting that posters self-censor their posts according to a standard other than their own implies the existance of some kind of charter or protocol which nobody signed up to.
