On March 7, 2025 Chris Hedges returned to The Sanctuary for Independent Media to present "Normalizing Genocide and the New World Order," a talk about how the world has changed since the genocide in Gaza began, how we navigate a world without rules or humanitarian law and how the genocidal violence perpetuated by the Global North, especially as the climate crisis deepens, will be turned with ever more frequency on the peoples of the Global South. The presentation, which was followed by a conversation with members of the audience, was given in advance of the release of his book, "A Genocide Foretold"

...because he communicates the horrors and inhumanity of man so well and can leave you with the smells of death in your nostrils.

but he really communicates the existential horror and depravity that goes on behind the sanitised media coverage.

The KLA were a bunch of bloodthirsty killers. He portrays the Serbs as being the bloodthirsty killers - a view promulgated by the West.

Apart from that, an absolutely tremendous speech. The kind of thing you'd rather not submit to our usual forensic examination. But habit is a hard thing to break.

As you say they (the KLA) were horrendous and I seem to recall they were the umbrella force that into which the jihadis were imported by the septics. This seems to be one of Chris's blind spots (Serbs bad, KLA good) but I guess when they've been shooting at you and it's difficult to be objective.

The rest of it was powerful though. He is a really gifted writer.

That story about the kid who got framed for a murder and wanted to be a teacher was jaw-dropping. Even on the video you could feel the impact that had in the room.
