Missed Ritter's bit, presumably he was getting all shouty and overblown as usual, but it ended amicably & respectfully between him & Marandi, both saying that they were in agreement on most of the major points. Ritter even admitted to having an ego(!) and taking it personally when accused of being a puppet for Israel & the US against Iran. He agreed with Marandi that US provocations and its 'nation ending' strategy wrt Iran was the main causative factor, and that a diplomatic off-ramp was needed. I don't know if he was arguing that Iran should abandon its alleged nuclear ambitions or destroy its drone & ballistic missiles as the US/Israel seemed to be demanding. That seems like it would be a suicidal thing to agree to at this point.

Anyway, good discussion, thx for posting - maybe I'll repost it myself in a couple of days just to make sure ppl see it

He was forceful and not particularly ranty, asd one would expect : ) .. and .. very respectful to Marandi.

Iranians are not going to produce nukes, assuming the negotiations go well. It was only their leverage for the new JCPOA that took their concerns into equation (the old JCPOA was cr*p for Iran).

I also think it was said that Trump decided to pull back on the missile tech and concentrate on the nukes. So, all is well. It was a stupid demand anyway ..

.. is what has been discussed between Iran, China and Russia .. I think a couple of days ago, and .. what messages are going through the back-channels between them and US.

At least the missile tech is off the table now. Both Russia and China don't want Iran to have the nuke capability ..

I did my duty and watched 2 hours of it : )

I have followed both Ritter and Marandi closely over the past week and a bit. They both changed their position/s in that time. I haven't the time to go into details ..

As they said, they have been tweeting each other during that period and this (Haiphong's) platform allowed them to basically agree. Resolved. End of story.

I listened to it all too.
Ritter sounded a lot more conciliatory and cordial than of late...well, at least I thought he did. He obviously respects Marandi.
If I had to parse the discussion, I'd say that Ritter admits the US is dishonest, hypocritical and rife with war mongers but nonetheless, the reality of the situation is that Iran must concede to the bully.
Marandi is quite adamant that there will be no conceding to the bully by Iran and is in a bit of a stronger position than Ritter might suppose.

In any case, it was a good discussion and well worth a look if you have the time.

Still have a hard time with Ritter though, after learning of his active role in the bombing of the civilian Amiriyah Shelter Bombing.
He's a war criminal but one of "our" war criminals.

Agree with all that ..

It still sticks in my throat.

But discussion per se is such that one has to also stick to intellectual honesty and examination of previous statement/s and facts. So, here we are.

To be fair, live stream comments are some of the least reliable of all comment threads so they can probably be disregarded; it was just what I saw as I was watching before posting. I think a lot of them are just trying to win Ritter up, or just wind someone up.
