Blimey, I thought he died decades ago.

Pretty revolutionary for its time but I'm one of those heretics that think "Pet Sounds" is way overrated. Take "God Only Knows" and "Wouldn't it be Nice" off it and it's not all that.
Probably because it was the septic's answer to "Rubber Soul" that they fawned over it so much.
Having said all that, great producer and songwriter. RIP.The corporate media are complicit in the Gaza genocide. Never forget what they did. Never forgive them for it.

I wasn't impressed, Revolver neither but Sgt Pepper wasn't bad. I didn't listen to it all the way through until a couple of years ago and quite enjoyed the pastiches. I got about a third of the people in the LP cover too. ;O) The last working-class hero in England. Clio the cat, ? I thought 'Good vibrations' may have been my favourite in '66. Mind, looking at the lyrics now, it was a relatively drab love song. But the music was good for the times, I guess.

Really? If you put on 'Good Vibrations' and actually *listen to it*, you'll hear -- won't you? -- that in places it approaches textural atrocity.

Musical stickler, ha. You are probably right. Meanwhile you should have been there in '66, '67, '68 etc. The youth, the energy, the slogans. It worked for me .. pleb that I am : ).
It would be myopic to analyse only one aspect imo.
Like I said, lyric-wise it was questionable when I looked at it recently (eyes-roll).
