Much as I like Sabby, dislike AOC and distrust Mehdi, I didn't find this particularly persuasive.
Not to defend him, but Mehdi has reported on the various hoaxes of Oct 7th so his defence that he didn't know (about 6 weeks after the event) rings true. Not everyone reads everything instantly. Then she uses this exact defence to big up MTG by saying "she's obviously learned new information and changed her mind" (paraphrased). So no logical consistency at all.
And her main point is that "we don't expect it from MTG" as if that means you can just disregard all the hateful maniacal drivel that MTG has been responsible for now that she called genocide a genocide. Not for one second does she consider that MTG has seen which way the wind is blowing and has decided to carve out a niche for herself and pre-distance herself from it all before names get taken.
AOC is a piece of shit and Mehdi has sheepdog tendencies but he's also done some excellent reporting so if you follow the "MTG is disgusting but now she said this so she's good" logic then so is Hassan. Also, trawling Twitter comments for some sort of justification isn't the best.
Ali is obviously top notch particularly on the genocidal entity and Gaza so I tend to side with him by default but even the initial tweet wasn't Hassan attacking Ali; it was Hassan attacking the idea of disregarding everything MTG has done just because of one statement on Gaza. The partial defence of AOC within that was dodgy for sure but still, on the whole I didn't think it was that persuasive a piece. The corporate media are complicit in the Gaza genocide. Never forget what they did. Never forgive them for it.
