Keaton makes a very moving, empathetic speech at the start talking about Charlie Kirk while also presenting some of the horrendous things he said and pushed throughout his life. Very fairly done.
I've not got to this part yet but he hinted that they think there is some "spooky" (my word, for want of a better description) involvement with the shooting.

Referring to the first vid, Keaton's a better man than me (maybe cos he has kids) - the critique of the racist, selective empathy of the right is so much more powerful when joined with clearly sincere compassion for their suffering, and the trauma experienced by Kirk's wife & kids. It wasn't my first reaction, which was more coldly cerebral, basically: "Here we go again, prominent white worthy victims take the limelight away from the murder of poor, brown children, rinse & repeat..." With limited empathic capacity, mine goes to the victims at the bottom of the hierarchy to the exclusion of those higher up, especially if they are complicit in the 'punching down' violence. Some say there shouldn't be limits on empathy or compassion. Maybe that's true but it's not my experience.

On Keaton's piece, he was so clearly emotionally affected and it had me tearing up a bit. I thought it was very very powerful and, as you said, much better than my initial, and continued, reaction.
I'm right at the limit of my empathy and so much of me is just screaming, fuck him, hate monger denied any kind of empathy or kindness to people he was paid to shit on so he gets none now. Maybe I'm lying to myself thinking I do really feel sorry. I feel sorry for his kids which I think is what motivated Keaton the most.
Thanks for the follow-up segment. The corporate media are complicit in the Gaza genocide. Never forget what they did. Never forgive them for it.
Ahh that was part of the live stream but it reminds me,

what the hell is going on with the two geezers giving hand signals? The guy in White cap could just about be itchy arm and cheek but the guy in the Black t-shirt definitely gives like a third-base coach like signal (the brush down the arm).
If they were CK's security team or on-site security signalling for some reason, they could have said that and put it to bed. Very weird, particularly as it's like the split second before the shot. The corporate media are complicit in the Gaza genocide. Never forget what they did. Never forgive them for it.
California police chief: 'those were definitely hand signals'...
'Now, in an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail, veteran law enforcement officer and security consultant Stan Kephart said that, in his expert view, the movements were deliberate but not unusual.
'I can tell you from experience — those were definitely hand signals. The way they were done was not casual. It was more than one signal,' said Kephart, a former California police chief who has advised on security for the Olympic Games and other major events.
But he cautioned against jumping to the darkest conclusions. 'My suspicion is that he's checking off with somebody else, perhaps a supervisor, saying everything is okay,' he added.
'It doesn't arouse my suspicions. If he wasn't okay, or if he had something to say, he would have reverted not to hand signals, but to his communication system.'Tell your story; Ask a question; Interpret generously http://storybythethroat.wordpress.com/tell-ask-listen/
'he was so clearly emotionally affected and it had me tearing up a bit' - me too, but then that felt more like empathy for him than anyone else! Or the typical man response of needing somebody else to express vulnerability first before you can admit to yourself that it's ok & do the same... Probably a useful thing to do at times like this, to not add to the divisive tensions and remind ppl of shared humanity. But yeah, that's maybe more appropriate for the innocents caught up in the situation, like his kids, than for Kirk himself. I didn't know much about him before, but righteous anger like this seems justified in its own way:
