'Gaza is a school of manhood, steadfastness, resilience, and defiance'

...says elderly gent returning to Gaza city with some kind of improvised backpack made from bits of clothing. Vid worth watching for the frankly amazing display of defiance. Israel and the Empire don't stand a chance of getting their way if 2% of Palestinians still feel this way:
'We will stay here, on our land, in Gaza. We will stay here, on the land of Gaza, steadfast, safeguarding the name of Gaza. The whole world knows that Gaza is the first line of defense to abort Netanyahu's dream of the greater israel state. We are the ones who prevented them from taking Egypt, and Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon. Because israel's dream would have come true if Gaza was gone. Can you imagine that Gaza today has not surrendered, despite the destruction it has suffered, it hasn't surrendered. But it is patient and steadfast. Gaza is a school of manhood, steadfastness, resilience, and defiance. Breaking the will [of the occupier] and fortitude of its own will. They might have destroyed homes, but they did not achieve any of their goals. Except through negotiation, except through negotiation! Negotiation is the only means that achieved their wishes. Moreover, the resilient people of Gaza will not leave the land of Gaza and will not agree to any alternative to this land. And we will stay here, God willing. Peace be upon Gaza, with its men, youth, women, martyrs, elderly, and devastated land. I have two martyrs in my family, my house, my property, all of it, is worth nothing compared to the dignity of the believer.' - Ashraf Hajaj
I had enormous respect for the Palestinian people before this genocide and how they have conducted themselves through this cruel torture has only underscored what dignified, intelligent, mindful, generous, courageous people they are.
Perhaps because of the enforced isolation all these years, they may be compared to island people who develop their own unique cultures. The Palestinian one has an agrarian foundation with attachment to the land and ecosystem and built on that, respect and value for education and independence, art, food, music, dance. Rich, true and beautiful.
Hamas has been the adult in the room through these last two years, behaving with enormous dignity, courage and reason for the purpose of winning freedom and human rights for their people, who have suffered so terribly and displayed those same values in their struggles and deprivation. So much has been lost; they will never give up the fight now.
I want to see an independent investigation into what happened on Oct 7 with the facts laid bare and blame assigned where it lies. To get rid of the fairy tale version that Israel has put out and will always adhere to until forced otherwise.
It's terrifying to see the players lining up to run Palestinian affairs or to push them aside and westernize Palestine, without even consulting with Palestinians, as if they are invisible. And to think about what will happen when Palestinians continue to demand freedom, human rights and autonomy which they will surely do.
Reminds me of the incredibly powerful point that Susan Abulhawa made when she talked about the land and the Palestinians connection with it...the ground, the olive trees...something the so called, self promoted "indigenous Israelis" from everywhere in the world apart from Palestine who have no regard for the land, destroying it and tearing up the olive groves. I always thought that point said everything you needed to know about this shitty little fake nazi nation.
