The Fraud

Hope someone can help me here. Last night on Newsnight the panel were discussing the Starmer debacle and there was mention of two books, "Get In" and "The Fraud". A Labour member ofnthe House of Lords (didn't catch his name) praised the first book but said the other was crap -- or words to that effect.

I have a vague recollection that "The Fraud" deals with the internal campaign to smear Corbyn as an anti-semite and bring him down, both electorally and as leader of the party. Is this correct? I also got the strong impression that the Labour peer was one of the cabal that secretly plotted to destroy Corbyn. He came across -- both in his attitude and body language -- as an arrogant smug individual you just knew was devious and untrustworthy and you wouldn't believer a word he uttered.

Is "The Fraud" the book I think it is?

I'm 2/3 of the way through it (The Fraud). It does deal with the topics you mention but it's more generally about the con job to get der Sturmer into power and then the purge of any "leftish" vestiges. JC and the EHRC, the witchhunt obviously comes up though.

Both books deal with the same subject, more or less. Imo 'The Fraud' goes into more detail on the role of McSweeny team smearing Corbyn et al and the background of the campaign for Kid Starver to get elected after Corbyn.

It's astonishing how they managed to bring this about without alerting the hapless Corbynites.

Perhaps Rask can fill in bits since he was the one that posted both books.

Very kind thought, Rask. Due to AMD my book-reading days are over. Fairly short pieces and emails are all I can manage.

The McSweeny issue grows

This smacks of the partei either learning for the first time, or realising everyone else that read it now knows, of the "Fraud" as described in the book and wanting to cut out a convenient scapegoat in the form of McSweeny.
