The whole business is redolent of the Saville thing.

Yet again a pervert rapist with close friendships among the royals & political elite...and yet in both cases the security services must have known all about their peccadillos. You don't get to hang around in such circles without being thoroughly investigated and vetted. It's hard to avoid the conclusion that these relationships were in fact condoned by the security services and that they were in fact deliberately compromising the "security" they were meant to be providing.
