That email is prob the most damaging revelation about this for me, too. You could argue he dashed it off in haste, "he's super busy", "he replies to every email", "he can't get everything right" etc. except he himself makes the point about ppl attacking epstein in bad faith not looking into the details of the case. And this comes after the 2008 conviction (where you would have thought any decent person should have cut ties completely) and multiple credible accusations building up against him. And NC just assumes it's like the graun calling him a genocide denier or some shit? No, he refused to look into the accusations because he wanted to maintain the relationship, and assisted the criminal with his cover-up & media campaign to clear his name.
It doesn't invalidate all the good work he has done throughout his life, but as Keaton says, even if associating with this monster isn't technically criminal (ie: assuming NC never had any 'pizza' himself), it's certainly a huge black mark on his moral character, so much moreso after the 2008 conviction. Besides, how can someone so tuned in to the lies and manipulations of politicians and the msm fall for such an obvious conman? Is he just completely lacking in interpersonal relationship savvy or something? Quite shocking really...
This in addition to the fact they were both in the belly of the New Yorker's 'scene' and all facts are known. Chomsky decided to brush it under the carpet by saying Epstein paid his dues. Don't like it but hey
-Yea. If Chomsky helped you open your eyes to see the world as it is, why would you then close them again to avoid inconveniencing his reputation?
Of course there's a lot of people hate Chomsky and his work for other reasons: their ties to state and corporate power being the most obvious and are just loving this, but I'm pretty sure we have all learned from Chomsy here.
I've always been more interested in what he has uncovered than in his extempore pronunciations on what we should do with that knowledge. His recent views on a number of things: Syria being the most prominent, have to my mind been inexplicable in being a failure of proper investigation as well as conclusion. I reckon that's otherwise called " growing old"
As to him fantasising about about Epstein's Island well, I don't really see anything in that. He's more the straw hat and a book on the beach market sell than teen-porn massage fantasy and I reckon the former is indeed what he was being sold. The question is though, did he signaly fail to investigate the man who was clearly providing him with largese in the firm of grace and favour luxury suites and expensive hotel boltholes, or did he just not care?
The worlds most prominent intellectual surely must have known Epstein was in deep with Mossad: indeed he couldn't have missed that his partner/procuress was the daughter of the famously corrupt businessman "Hero of Israel" and Mossad spy Robert Maxwell, but it seems he didn't care.
I note Aaron Mate who had written a defense of Chomsky the other day has now read further further into the e-mails and produced a partial retraction:

I watched this yesterday and pretty much agreed wit them; thought about posting it and then decided not to stir the nest.
I agree with the "bad judgment/hypocrisy/moral failure but all his good work stands apart" conclusion. You can never discount spookish attempts to discredit anyone vaguely "of the left" so there may still be some element of that, but it still seems like there's now way NC couldn't have known some of the details of Epstein's crimes so then you are left with him choosing to ignore it.
I think mentioned in the DD episode (maybe somewhere else I saw) but these latest revelations (not just N.C. but the Epstein stuff generally) go fairly close to proving the idea that the "Pizzagate" story as portrayed by the corporate media (always with the lone gunman turning up to Comet Ping Pong, in fact the entire nature of that establishment seems to have been a 4channed lure) was a distraction from the actual story; more of the Epstein elite exchanging coded emails referring to "pizza" (and various other terms) which IS now DEFINITIVELY shown to be code for something, almost certainly people intended for sexual abuse. Those emails were always the story but that all got buried amid the wild child sacrifice dungeon stuff the media seemed keen to pick up. The whole thing ties in to the Epstein stuff seamlessly (if you ignore the distraction tactics of the deliberately set-up to be debunkable Comet Ping Pong nonsense).
It's astonishing how wide and far this whole thing spread even more so given you have to think we're only getting maybe 25-30% of the dirt.The corporate media are complicit in the Gaza genocide. Never forget what they did. Never forgive them for it.
