Lots of big Helicopters flying around, shaking the house etc at the moment but never fear: According to the local press I'm in the middle of "Exercise Kukri Dawn": kinda like "Zulu dawn" but with no Zulus.
" The month‑long training exercise runs from mid‑February to mid‑March, and is expected to bring increased day and night‑time flying over parts of Fife.
What is Exercise Kukri Dawn? Exercise Kukri Dawn is a large‑scale training programme taking place across Scotland, with significant activity centred around Leuchars Station and surrounding areas. It involves Army personnel and helicopter crews practising low‑level flying, which is a key skill for supporting troops on the ground during real operations. Local residents may see large twin‑rotor Chinook helicopters among the aircraft taking part, as these are commonly used to transport troops and equipment....".
So there we are: essential practice for "real operations"...
And...who, pray, is to be involved if these real operations come about? Well no prizes for guessing cos it's cunningly disguised in the name isn't it? A Kukri is in fact the famous blade of the UK'S mercenary soldiers: the Gurkha, and the government presently has about four thousand in place.
Of course being mercenaries from Nepal makes them more expendable as it limits the publicity flack which would occur if UK corpses were flown home...a bit like the French using their foreign Legion... So ...what's a bet that somewhere in Rural France there's an equivalent exercise going on named " Képi Blanc" or some such...
Never fear though, it's probably just the Starmer & Macron warmongering love-in keeping us safe in our beds from, ummm, Ivan...or umm, Mulla..anyways bad people who threaten our democratic freedoms and we have lots of mercenaries to do the job for us...so we won't have to fight, which is well and good, because the freedoms thing has been banned or censored anyway.
Alternatively the Yanquis have given their permission for us honkies to participate in "Neo Colonial" activities...it's all the rage these days...so maybe the reference takes us to sorting out those uppity shady folk in Africa? but of course we shall all hope that any real action doesn't follow the original movie overview:
" In 1879, Lord Chelmsford, the Commander of a British Colony, declares war on the Zulu population to eliminate them. The British underestimate the tactical skill of the Zulus and fall into their trap..."
-Not to worry though: whatever goes down only foreigners will die...
The Gurkhas also took part in the Amritsar/Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, firing on unarmed Indians NM
