Swing and a miss on the USS Abraham Lincoln

Posted by RaskolnikovX User icon on March 1, 2026, 6:03 pm

Iran targeted the USS Abraham Lincoln, but the “missiles launched didn’t even come close,” according to a social media post from US Central Command (Centcom).

“The Lincoln was not hit,” the post said. “The missiles launched didn’t even come close. The Lincoln continues to launch aircraft in support of Centcom’s relentless campaign to defend the American people by eliminating threats from the Iranian regime.”

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps, the country’s most powerful military body, was quoted earlier in an Iranian news outlet as saying that four ballistic missiles had targeted the ship.

Meanwhile...

Donald Trump said that the US has destroyed nine Iranian navy ships and largely destroyed Iran’s naval headquarters.

“I have just been informed that we have destroyed and sunk 9 Iranian Naval Ships, some of them relatively large and important,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social. “We are going after the rest — They will soon be floating at the bottom of the sea, also! In a different attack, we largely destroyed their Naval Headquarters.”

Who knows what the targets actually were; they could have been small torpedo boats or something and that shit gibbon would pretend it was the Spanish Armada, but in general it's sadly starting to look like a lot of the resistance talk was just that. It feels like they are hitting what they want (and of course plenty that they don't intend), without too many problems and the limited strikes on bases are not doing much to slow things down. Early days perhaps but I have a sinking feeling.

The corporate media are complicit in the Gaza genocide.
Never forget what they did. Never forgive them for it.

I'm listening to Scott at the moment...he strongly contends that the US/Israel don't have the resources for a prolonged campaign...maybe just days, according to him.
Then Iran can make a real impression.
Sinking feeling here too but it ain't over 'till the fat lady sings and Scott sounds convincing!

"I won't dignify the attacker's words by repeating them, they are horrific and vile."

I also think Ritter is right on this one - if serious about striking the carrier Iran will attempt to deplete its air defences with cheap missiles before moving on to large drone swarms and then hypersonics thrown in the middle of the chaos to land the knockout blow.

Btw: 'We are going after the rest — They will soon be floating at the bottom of the sea, also! In a different attack, we largely destroyed their Naval Headquarters.” ' - not to nitpick but is it possible for something to float if it's underwater?

Also I've been wondering with all his talk of sending this 'massive armada' to the middle east whether trump is aware of what happened to the original armada? That would be 'not good, believe me, not good' to anyone of a superstitious nature, surely...

cheers,
I

Agreed on the time aspect, at least that's what I'm clinging to

but it rather depends on what they mean by "prolonged". I find the "just days" claim somewhat ott; weeks seems more likely.

The ship-borne anti-missile/drone munitions are relatively easier to restock compared to the huge Patriot/THAD things so while I hope it's true that they can deplete their number in order to decrease the defensive capabilities it feels like they have the logistics to resupply at sea, especially if they just put a big hole in the navy (10% of their ships depending, of course, on what [or if] they actually hit).

A lot of missile carrying ships have to reload in a port....nm

PressTV says it was a hit, a palpable hit, Horatio. Fired at does not equal a hit, Guildenstern. nm
