Yea. Depressing as it might be, the only thing keeping the cheap bombs away is control of the airspace. Lose that then you lose all ability to strike back.

Re: Realistically, aren’t we seeing the same air defense problem we saw last time around?
Lets get real on these boards, presently the Imperialist scum do not have control of Iranian airspace, the Zionazi scum, including the fascist Yanks are using up their supply of stand-off missiles at an alarming pace, i.e., do catch up with what actually "shock and awe" means. Iran does have multiple air defence systems, both static and mobile - some of these are domestically designed, others are supplied by China and Russia. The facts are simple, multiple weapon systems are designed to lock on to signals emitted from air defence systems, i.e., they light up like fireworks when they move from a passive state. Most locations of Iran's static radar defence systems are known, as such all who use them know they'll come under attack, so, you either defend them like the Russian's do, or, you suck it up and allow your enemy an advantage. The thing is, this advantage may be false, namely Iran ain't stupid and probably is prepared to suck up large casualties to lull Israel and the USA into a large air incursion into Iran using both light and heavy bombers, at this juncture Iran actually rolls out both its hidden radar systems and surface to air missiles/drones to take out a large number of attacking aircraft. For those thinking one is crass and stupid please look at what happened when the USA began bombing Hanoi and Haiphong during the latter stages of the Vietnam war - losses among F4's and B52's were significant.
Further, due to sanctions Iran has a small number of aircraft, they have lots of drones though and lots of missiles. Also, Russia has supplied a small number of aircraft and helicopters to Iran and China was in the process of supplying J-10s and J-20's to Iran - problem is, it takes a long time to train pilots and ground crew. Moving forward its possible both Russia and China would supply actual pilots if the going gets really tough.
Again, modern tactics are for aircraft and missiles to avoid detection until its too late, however, the USA/Israel don't have a bottomless pit of stand-off weapons and when they have to turn to dumb bombs I trust Iran will issue a nasty surprise.
