He could be right, elaborating on the speculation thus:
'I am speculating, for a reason.
The French have acted as an arm of the Americans for a long time - since Sarkozy's disastrous campaign in Libya, putting at risk French investments in the east of Libya.
The French also participated in America's operations against Assad, even though Total and others had investments in Syria that would have logically led them to back that regime.
French alpine units could have originally been there to help the Kurds build up their mountain defences.
But, every single time, in previous Israeli wars, the French have been at the forefront, acting as an American proxy. The Americans were planning on using the Kurds, and have said so quite openly, then equivocated.
The Iranians have infiltrated Kurdish groups. We see them successfully intercept Kurdish operations quite often, not just in this war.
These factors are what led me to speculate.'

One would have thought... I guess French Jews should all go to israel, French Christians should all go to Palestine, French Daoists should all go to China, and French atheists... well, maybe they can stay? Very sensible, well thought-out and not at all racist 'argument'.
