About an hour ago the newsreader was interviewing an expert on US foreign policy, a woman who had spent 18 years in the State Dept. The newsreader started with possible the "wrong" question: why was the US so much under the influence of Israrel? The expert replied that she was in fact writing a book about that very subject at the present time, to which the newsreader responded that she must therefore be the perfect person to offer an opinion.
But things then started to unravel. The expert explained that the government (whether Democrat or Republican) ignored any advice or guidance from the State Dept or intelligence services when Israel was involved and made decisions on their own. The reason for this was twofold: the influence of Israel on policy combined with the pressure from the arms industry. When She then began to elaborate on this theme it was clear that someone was screaming into the newsreader's earpiece because she started to garble that time was running out and they had to leave it there. But the expert carried on making the point that politicians listened only to Israel and that (oh bugger!) Trump wasn't in charge of the war against Iran, Israel was. You could see panic rising in the eyes of the hapless newsreader as she swiftly and gratefully thanked her guest and moved on.
The very urgent item she moved onto, that couldn't wait a single second more, was a car accident involving Tiger Woods. But I fear the damage was done. They'd asked the "wrong" expert to come on and compounded the error by asking the "wrong" question. Crumbs. When the shit hots the fan it really does cover everyone.
