I respect and welcome Laith Marouf's work and this one was thoughtful and informative as always.
One criticism I have is that he's a little sloppy naming actors. Near the beginning of this piece, he talks about Jewish invading forces. I understand how someone from the region would do this but it is wrong and harmful imo. If we use Jew interchangeably with Israeli, we can use Christian to ascribe American actions or Muslim to ascribe ISIS actions. It's not accurate and it causes more problems. Many Jews are sickened, like millions of others, by Israel's actions, and many Jews are leading the protests against them.
I didn't get to listen to the whole piece yet but near the end, I think he talks about all Jews being driven out of the region. That is no solution; it would only lay the groundwork for further violence in the future. I think that everyone in the region who wants to live in a peaceful society with equal rights for all should be allowed to stay. Of course there's lots to be worked out by way of reparations and rebuilding.
Re: Laith Marouf: No One Saw This Coming: Hezbollah Smashes IDF Frontline (Nima)
I think you're right; using Jew as a synonym for antisemitic nazi bastard plays into the hands of American Caesar and his lackeys who try to claim that antizionism is the same as antisemitism instead of its opposite.Clio the cat, ?July 1997-1 May 2016 Kira the cat, ??2010-3 August 2018 Jasper the Ruffian cat ???-4 November 2021 Georgina the cat ?2006-4 December 2025 Toni the cat ?2005-25 March 2026
