I just had one of mine diagnosed with CKD...right out of left field, total shock and it's a nightmare.

Cats are notorious for kidney problems. Will need a special diet that s/he will hate!

and as he's FIV+ I was thinking it was trouble and expected he would hate the renal food but he's taken to it like a duck to water and has been getting along really well (coming up to four months now).

I hope yours reacts as well as mine has. I know he's on a countdown but every extra week we get is a massive bonus.

She's not liking the renal stuff at all...I have about 5 different brands of it...has taken a little Virbac kibble.
Have some appetite stimulant tablets from the vet, been on them two days now and I think I can see a bit more eagerness to eat something.
Nothing more frustrating than to see her walk up to her bowl, have a sniff and walk away.
She's on thyroid meds too which is also a battle to make her take them...have all sorts of those pill putty things to disguise them.
If I could just get her to start eating...am trying every trick in the book and still hoping!

God I know that feeling; it's horrendous, torture.

I got Royal Canin Renal and was shocked when he went for it.Hopefully the appetite stimulant starts working.I'll keep everything crossed.

I have some Royal Canin Renal but as of now, it's not going down.
I've even just took delivery of some Gerber Baby Food, recommended by a lot of CKD cat owners, not proper renal food but eating is a priority so we will see.
Just had some chicken, was great to see her going at it and then, just like that walks away with 3 quarters left.

I mix dry and wet

The daily amount is like 30g of dry and 1 packet of wet. I try and mix it so he gets some of both and so it isn't too dry. I got lucky as I was sure he wouldn't like it.

I got him some of the RC "Select" biscuits but I use those a bit like Dreamies.

I hope you find something they go for.

It has the daily amounts by weight of cat on the packet so just split that up into individual feeds. It doesn't keep very well once served up so I try to keep the portions smaller.

A ratio of about 60:40 wet to dry seems to work well.

This seems to be just a liquid but has a lot of nutrition and from what I can see is used post-op but it might be a way to get her to take something in. It is madly expensive but I know that isn't something we ever care about when the furry fuhrers are concerned.

As I say, I've never tried it but was just looking to see if I could find anything that may be useful.

I had seen that...I opted for this instead which she does drink so long as she takes that first lick...the first lick is the hardest!

Been trying her on a few different Phosphate binders too...little success there, either.

Mine's not eating much this morning but he does have these fluctuations from time to time and the weather isn't helping although it's going to be cooler for a few days now. They do please themselves as to what they do when, as we all know :D

I really hope things pick up for her. They can have trouble adjusting to the new diet so hopefully they pick up soon.
