They are right wing not so much because they are oppressive, or haters - how can someone struggling to run a small (perhaps rural) business against the tyranny of some transnational corporation, as many are around ‘ere, be considered oppressive? They are on the right because they are part of the capitalist system. Its where they operate. Its economic to a large extent. In my experience that totally does not mean they are haters, that they hate nature, hate animals, love human suffering. They are to a pretty large extent grassroots, church going people in many cases, and every day is a morality tale or a tale and/or a tale of their own family hardships. They quite likely also know that a number of Palestinians were the original christians.
