Strange other-worldly feeling (and I don't mean the heat)

I watched PM's questions today and a strange feeling crept over me. I have never like Starmer even before he became Labour leader. There was something untrustworthy about the guy, you just knew he had no convictions and was a machine politician who would say or do anything to gain favour. (I came face to face with him once, in a venue hired by Bury (Lancs) jazz club where he was touting to become leader after Corbyn. I was departing as he was arriving).
But anyway, today's PM question time. As he was speaking it suddenly seemed bizarre that he was in the process of quitting the job when behind him was a vast parliamentary majority of 170+ MPs and he hadn't yet been formally, officially challenged by any single individual, and I couldn't ever remember this happening even under the debacle of Boris Johnson rule. Previously there had always been a procedure either completed or in the process of being so. Yet here we had a man with a thumping majority that in former times would have seen him comfortably placed making a final (or nearly) address before any formal procedure had been enacted. And it gave me a creepy feeling I can't explain.
Has something like this ever happened before in Parliament?
