That's paraphrasing a so-called Sea Lord interviewed on Radio 4 the other day. I didn't catch his name. Neptune or Poseidon, presumably.

...or is it just ludicrous propaganda?: Is it believable that these Bufton Tuftons actually think the nonsense they come out with is real?

The very idea itself falls at the first hurdle which is "motive" without even considering the logistics.
It should go without saying that Russia has vast amounts of land and resources for a relatively small population. The UK on the other hand is an overpopulated little island with a decaying manufacturing base, rotting infrastructure and very little in the way of natural resources.

Why would Russia want to take on this ostensible liability? Yea. It's just daft.

Non the less of course even that basic question is never asked of such military bampots. The answer must be that they dig them up from the PR department of some armaments manufacturer on the make.

A two minute search indeed tells us that "Lord West": the individual "expert" warning us of the imminent dangers of Russians and Chechens marching down your street raping your fair English damsels as they go,following his military career indeed "...served as chairman of the defence firm QinetiQ (up until 2007) and has acted as an advisor for maritime defence companies like Kraken Technology Group..."

So there you are: no longer hypothesis. A paid shill for the Military industrial complex given a countrywide platform & treated as a knowledgeable expert whilst all the time spouting utter bollox, and no questions asked.

The "Bufton Tuftons"...must been on the telly on the days I didn't manage to get off Junior school

The point being it's not about sanity. You say something for long enough on the BBC and people just seem to believe any old shite.

Especially when no BBC interviewer challenges the idiocy.
