Wow, some incredible ignorance on display there - proof of the beeb's effectiveness in ramming the public's head full of utter nonsense (assuming they're not all bots).

I wonder what the reaction would be to a Russian drone strike on an Amazon warehouse in the UK? Only so long you can keep begging for a slap in this way, especially when you've got nothing to respond with...

Comment section the polar opposite, as you might expect, taking the piss out of Putin's 'strongly worded letters' and many demanding strikes on UK soil in retaliation. Not much consideration of the dangers for igniting a nuclear war as a result, but then there wasn't in the beeb thread either. One mustn't conclude too much about a population based on random internet comments, but the signs aren't good from this showing...

I thought some of the comments were actually spot on, such as the one below, which got over 500 approvals yo 150 against. On balance, the comments were far more critical of US/UK belligerence towards Russia than the supportive. Which is why Burnham again is so out of touch with reality. Instead of thinking anew and changing course he is tamely parroting previous failed policies. Disappointing is hardly the word. Despair is fucking nearer.

Biden’s note, delivered by Johnson, stating he wasn’t ready for negotiation scuppered the Istanbul peace
initiative; that had already been agreed in principle by the Ukrainians.
How many lives have been lost because of that?
I despair for the people of Russia who must endure Putin.
I despair for the people of Ukraine.
And I despair that no one seems interested in negotiating peace.

I thought he was pretty popular in Russia...even up to 75% last time I looked at any polls.
Isn't the "endure Putin" more of a wishful thinking Western propaganda meme?

Point taken.
The message I quoted did give the true explanation behind the West's duplicity in using Johnson to sabotage the peace talks, which were progressing to a positive outcome. And over 500 respondents agreed with this, which I found (perhaps mistakenly) encouraging. Maybe they were approving the "endure Putin" bollox.
