I tend to the view advanced by my expert colleague Luke Harding, who, when asked if Trump is a tool of the Russian intelligence services, answers with a question of his own: if Trump were a Russian asset, in what way would he behave any differently from the way he behaves now?

Well, if 'expert' Luke says so.....

Has JF written any articles about Trump being a tool of Netanyahu, for example, as evidenced by the attack on Iran?

Freedland's a mediocre thriller writer as Sam Bourne. But he has a comic gift...

No recognized comedy writer could write a funnier phrase than "my expert colleague Luke Harding."

It's on the same order as Father Dougal modestly replying, after someone calls him brilliant: "I'm no Jeffrey Archer."

Of course the hapless Freedland's humour is 100 per cent unintentional.

Which makes the absurdity of seriously quoting that dunce Harding even funnier.
