There were rumors during F. King Alexander's administration that the feasibility of building a greek row on campus was being looked at.
It is good progress now at least. Parkside North was already a big step:

Great news, adding to an already world-class residence hall in Parkside North.
This is what has been missing so much since my era: we have always had demand for on-campus housing. All the surrounding areas have always been filled with students (apartments) - all the way into Belmont Shore and beyond + across the county border into Seal Beach, etc. That's why F. King Alexander's administration bought Brooks College and turned it into LB State housing (I know they had road blocks in building on-campus at the time as well).
The fact that Parkside North and this new one are 4+ floors is already progress (there's always been roadblocks in building taller buildings on the campus, and it looks like that barrier has been shattered).
