That dye was cast when the Wilfs opted for KOC, not Doug Peterson or Jim Harbaugh.
Harbaugh has experience with spread schemes. Was one of the 1st to try it in nfl-( Kaepernick).
Peterson is a former NFL QB. He speaks the language, he was the top choice as available QB whisperers. Peterson has coached qb's from & to just about every scheme combo imagined one style. . KOC was a cup of coffee NFL QB. He understands one concept really well. Hi IQ. But 1 scheme. Proset drop back play action.
KOC had a tremendously successful rookie hc debut. It's hard to call it a bad choice. It just creates a direction that diverges from those other candidates. If Harbaugh were HC? Hell yes. Grab Richardson or Hooker If Pederson? Sure- take levis or Duggan.
It's KOC. He needs a smart kid that had marginal success & is a willing pupil. Those other afforementioned college stars? Ask Stefanski how well the "BMOC" ( BAKER) adapts to the play action learning curve. It's a lockeroom schism in waiting.
Pederson/ Harbaugh... Shoulda, coulda- DID NOT.
Actions(hires) have Consequences (Koc/play action).
