My one trip was quite a few years back when it was Safeco. I went with a gal that had grown up in the farm country south of Minneapolis. We had a good time.
As the link says- concessions are a disaster once the park fills up. And, the Mariners are projected to be good, so expect a crowd.
The only negative was parking. It took awhile, but we found a spot in one of the periphery garages for $45. We even found a space. And, we were 3 hours before game time. We brought our dogs. Both of us had Chihuahuas. We walked them around the skeezy warehouse district for about an hour. It was a Saturday as 1pm game. Maybe 75° at 1st pitch. The parking garage was covered, so. No direct sun on the car to cook the pups we left all the windows down about 2-3 inches. Filled a pair of water bowls and headed off for the 1/2 mile walk to Safeco.
Good game. TC won. I caught the only in game foul ball in my life. I'd chased down a few BP all's when I was a kid at Oakland games. We met some friends there. It was a great experience.
Post game, we walked back to the car. Some douche had vandalized the rental car. It was the one rare moment I had bought the rental insurance- in anticipation of the homeless and criminal element that surrounds the Safeco/lumen field complex.
Somebody had written with a sharpie, a detailed nasty gram of how cruel we were to our dogs. That the dogs had suffered in the heat, and- through the open windows. They had soaked all the seats with an unknown liquid. Note- the inside of the car smelled of coffee, thankfully not urine.
75° day, parked in shade. Windows open & multiple water bowls in plain view. Yes, I'm sure the dogs suffered. NOT! Especially considering the post game plan was to spend the remainder of the day on the beach at Mercer island.
People. Blech. City dwellers especially.
My dog preferred to go with me where ever I went. Was just fine napping in the vehicle for an hour or 6. There was cheaper parking available, but it was in the sun.
But hey, haters gotta hate/judge, have a trial in their pea brain that justifies their hateful retribution. The only thing traumatic to those 2 dogs, was somebody invading their space, writing on the windows, tossing coffee on to their cozy seats.
Epitaph, Hertz tried to charge me for the damage. They back charged my credit card $800. It took a few phone calls. But eventually the $800 was refunded. Thankfully I had kept all receipts, including the parking garage who fessed up the security cameras where fake deterrent cameras.
Yeesh. Just reliving that experience. And it really was just inconvenience. But rewinding it in my head- Shasta sounds WAY better✌️
