I'm at 9 1/8.
A have no problems with an ncaa ball. I can grip good & strong. An nfl ball? I have to hold further back to have the same feel. Meaning only my index & middle finger are on the laces. Small hand qb's use that lil trick. Defenders know this, swipe at the ball more often just because of the extra 2-3 inches of leverage available.
McCarthy 9" hands? Thats a bit scary.
Kenny picket famously came in at 8 5/8.
Im sure he practiced the adjustment before he ever got in a game. But you can bet, holding the ball further back has affected his accuracy.
I cant remember the hc now. Was it Mike Shannahan? Stated 9 1/4 was the minimum needed w/o a qb having to adjust his grip.
Fyi- kirko has 9 7/8 hands. Plenty big enough to sling it around. Darnolds are 9 3/8. Right there on the edge. It'll be interesting to see how often the ball gets swatted out of his hands. It seemed really rare for kirko. He had his share of fumbles- but it was center exchanges & scrum strips most often.
