How many rookie qb's become the starter by week 6. And how many of those didnt face plant that opportunity.
Joe burrow stands out as the success story. Andy Luck too. RG3 i seem to remember had rookie success but quickly descended into oblivion.
Justin Herbert?
Trevor lawerence didnt completely embarass himself.. but the vast majority that actually become the starter early. My memory tells me it didnt go well at all.
Did Big Ben start as a rookie?
My memory on such things is at best sketchy & unreliable.
I ask BC i hear these talking heads projecting this years crop to "x" team as if the rookie qb is an immediate upgrade. Meanwhile- the memory here tells me. The team that is expecting a rook qb, to be anything more than barely adequate at best, that team(s) have unrealistic expectations. Even more so now, than in 2010 bc of the fact every one of these qb's is coming from the simplified college spread scheme- leaping atop the the fire that is the far more complicated NFL scheme.
Even Florio, today, is arguing the chiefs mishandled Mahomes by sitting sir patrick for a year, instead of having the 3 time sb champ start for KC in year 1.
Idk, sitting for a year, in most cases, sure seems like the wise play to me.
