The green chartreuse bead floats found on TT seem to work ok when the Gurnard are around. I use the small green or pink round floats along with a green chartreuse and a couple of small beads in between. The sum total of this combination seems to give your line a bit of extra bouyancy. I also cut down my a bait a bit too and only use one hook rather than the two.
Ive also been told to try and get your bait around ten metres behind the where the waves break if thats possible. But Gurnard are sneaky buggas they come and go like will o wisps, so anything goes some days.
