Re: total loss damged car while in for repair

As someone who crashed a customers car myself while on route for an MOT many years ago I can sympathize with your plight. I had serviced the car pre mot so was already out of pocket and obviously expected to be paid at the end of the job. The accident was my fault in so much as I locked up the brakes on a diesel soaked corner. No one else to claim from except my insurer who to be fair were very prompt in sorting out the damage. I swallowed the costs involved, not as much as yours I know but I did keep the customer for many years there after (until he moved). I know he should have paid and perhaps I should have suggested he did but I think on balance I made the right decision at the time. I kept a happy customer, he recommended me to others and as it was my fault it relieved some of the self guilt! Still I hope you manage to sort out. Regards Colin
