Hi Karen,
I charge 2.5% for credit cards and nothing for debit cards.
The customer is given the option when the price is quoted so there are no mix ups. Very few have ever questioned it and once its explained to anyone that does they have no problem with it, ie I charge you what it costs me to offer you the facility, I could charge everyone more to hide the cost but dont see that as fair do you? Most people see it as an honest approach.
As Steve said it speeds up the more expensive jobs, usually goes along the lines of
'£450, do you take credit cards?, yes, ok just go ahead then'
