Block Exemption changes basically mean that, so long as the vehicle is being serviced in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations, by a competent garage, using 'OE Quality' parts, then the vehicle manufacturer cannot refuse to honour the warranty, no matter how long that warranty period is.

This means that you must follow the service recommendations, including interval, check, adjustments & replacements as per the service schedule, including fault memory readouts.

You must also be a reputable garage, in the past this has been taken as being VAT registered, don't really know how they will quantify this in the future, maybe by licencing.

The 'reputable garage' must fit genuine or equivalent products to the vehicle, if you don't like the dealer price, then go for the factor version, but bear in mind who makes it for the VM, Vauxhall is a prime example, oil filters from MANN, clutch from LuK, so just look whos on the car as OE, you won't find many with Apec brake pads & disc as OE, just an example.

So have a good look into your parts supplier & see who's giving you not just OE quality, but OE brands as well.

Don't worry, I'm not going to get heavy on the advertising front for CAF here, but just trying to both point out the facts from this small bit of Block Exemption changes, but also to look at the brands of parts you are fitting.
