new nt theory test Posted by Martin Beswick on January 14, 2007, 10:06 pm has anybody any observations on the test that potential mot testers need to take in order to become a tester? we have two mechanics who are taking the multiple choice exam on wednesday, you have to take this test if you dont have city and guilds part three, one lad took it two years ago and failed, both are nervous. if you fail once you have to wait two months to retake it, fail again and you have to wait twelve months, we are desperate to get them testing to lighten the load on the existing testers any experiences? cheers martin.  Post a Response ( * ) Required

Re: new nt theory test Posted by andy gladish on January 14, 2007, 10:47 pm, in reply to "new nt theory test " Hi Martin I took this test last year at Leicester,7 in class,i was the only one to pass! some of it is common sense & obvious but other stuff your guys simply will not know unless they have read up on it & can remember it on the day. composition of petrol for example.Thing is,personally i really really wanted this license & was well read leading up to the test,The Hillier fundamentals of motor mechanics 5th edition manual has enough in it to pass but read it cover to cover. Re: new nt theory test Posted by martin beswick on January 24, 2007, 10:21 pm, in reply to "Re: new nt theory test " both of the mechanics failed the test, one got 60%, the other got 48%, pretty dismal, they now have to wait four months to retake the test, its given us a a headache, i dont think its a question of technical ability but that they simply dont understand the content of the questions, that is to say a basic understanding of english, we have to decide which way to go, and at the moment as we need another mechanic,we are looking at employing an exsisting tester. I can see why the average age of testers is so high.what does anybody think the wage differential should be between a tester and a non tester in a garage.?  Post a Response ( * ) Required

I did a 2 day refresher course a month ago and also noted that most of the guys were of a mature age. 10 years ago it was like being in kindergarten. As a matter of interest did your guys do any home work before they took the exam? I've got to agree with a post higher up the thread the questions weren't that bad.
